The black fortress ripples with shimmering iridescent energy, the piles of black coral heaped on roped together barges around it, bobbing in the waves. On the largest barge stands a slender man with a copper belt, wearing a face mask, orange red hair flecked with black from ash or dust. As the dawn slowly folds over the ocean, he'll look up, as if hearing some hidden voice.

At the top of the fortress, a figure climbs into vision, a woman, dressed in gray, features obscured by a hood with impenetrable darkness behind it. She staggers a moment as if she is weary, then straightens to her full height. As she speaks, her voice comes out of the journals, echoing over the water, low but clear.

"This is no small task ye do. She that rots within'll do anythin' ta stop ye. Don't hesitate to kill what ye find. If they were human once, they hain't no more. Watch out for her golems, too, or they'll drain ye dry quicker'n a wink. But if ye can get rid of 'em, it'll weaken her." She hesitates, cants her head to the side. "And if ye lot aren't as much of a bunch'a idiots as usual, ye might come out alive through this."

That said, she raises her hands. After a moment so does the man on the barge. For a moment, nothing seems to happen and then iridescent light shimmers over the coral, seeming to match that which surrounds the fortress. It crackles and dances like a fire, and then without warning bursts into a furious life, slamming against the energy of the fortress. There is the sound like thunder and light snaps and crackles, zipping with energy. Then with a woosh the light flies upward, taking the figure with it. The man on the barge lets out a cry like a seagull and dives into the water as if intending to swim after her.

For the boats that remain, a part of the fortress will crumble away into the sea, revealing a small harbor and an open doorway. Enter all ye who dare.

"Be worse'n a shitty barnacle," Namur promised. "Know round 'bout where she'd be?"

"I tried listening for her voice, but it feels like she's all over the place," Ace replied, grunting in direction of that thought. She was controlling the zombies, he figured. That was probably why he felt her everywhere and couldn't get a good fix.

"Basically, we tear up as much as we can 'till we find her."

Namur shrugged. "Sounds like a plan t' me. Maybe take Espio 'long with us. Don't know if y' met him 'fore y' went psycho but he can turn invisible. Might be good for scoutin' so we ain't gotta bring the fortress down on our heads 'til we're tryin' t' get out. What y' think?"

At that, the captain couldn't help but give pause. First Chandra, then Espio. Ace stopped and put his hands on his hips, looking from Namur to the ship for a few glances before putting out his lips.

"You guys recruited quite a bit while I was possessed. I think you guys are tryin' to reign in and steal up all my charisma!"

Still, he didn't argue at all--which meant Espio had his waive.

That brief, fiery burst as Ace landed on the Moon was unmistakable. Korra, who had no trouble lingering in the choppy shallows of the ocean, launched out of the water and onto the deck to greet Ace.

"If you're going to run off, at least try not to get caught." She leaned casually against the ship's rail as she eyed Ace. Korra shot Namur a nod in greeting as well.

Properly telling Ace off could wait until after the raid. Because oh yeah. She had Words.

only the wind now

Familiar voices rang in Ace's head and it made him smile without a single thought as to the comeuppance for his inactivity as a captain. He was happy, because he had everyone back--or, he was about to. They still had three names left in the walls and they would have to dig them out. Though Ace looked worse for wear, holding onto a number of still undressed and unmended wounds from his battles with the crew from before, Ace seemed as if he were brimming with energy.

When Korra appeared, he snickered, "What can I say? I was always bad at running away. I'm better at staying and fighting."

Namur nodded right back at Korra, and clapped Ace on the back one more time.

"Does recruitin' ever stop for the White- Spade Pirates?" Shut up, he didn't fumble that at all, nope. "Ain't gonna be not recruitin' jus' cuz I disappear, are y'? No. Shit. Jus' means we gotta have a party after this an' get t' know each other. Sheheheh! C'mon, let's go have ourselves a shitty witch hunt an' get out a here. Smells like hell 'round here. Might actually hurl if we stick 'round too long yappin' our gums. Let's go!"

"Straight for the witch?" Korra grinned at Namur's mention of a witch hunt. She hopped up onto the railing with an airbender's ease and raised an eyebrow at Ace. In a perfect world, he shouldn't have been fighting at all. Not with the injuries he'd already sustained.

But Ace was Ace, and there wasn't any point in trying to keep him to the ship.

"No," Ace replied quickly, reaching up to scratch his nose. With his fire run out, he felt more comfortable relying on his haki not only to coat his limbs, but to keep his body rigid enough to stand. It was still worrisome that he would have to try not to bring down the entire place while he was at it, though. Ace would be looking for a suitable weapon once they got inside, if only because his limbs were screaming at him to relax.

"We make sure everyone's out," He began to walk, right towards the current battle at the entryway. "Then, we deal with her."
