The black fortress ripples with shimmering iridescent energy, the piles of black coral heaped on roped together barges around it, bobbing in the waves. On the largest barge stands a slender man with a copper belt, wearing a face mask, orange red hair flecked with black from ash or dust. As the dawn slowly folds over the ocean, he'll look up, as if hearing some hidden voice.
At the top of the fortress, a figure climbs into vision, a woman, dressed in gray, features obscured by a hood with impenetrable darkness behind it. She staggers a moment as if she is weary, then straightens to her full height. As she speaks, her voice comes out of the journals, echoing over the water, low but clear.
"This is no small task ye do. She that rots within'll do anythin' ta stop ye. Don't hesitate to kill what ye find. If they were human once, they hain't no more. Watch out for her golems, too, or they'll drain ye dry quicker'n a wink. But if ye can get rid of 'em, it'll weaken her." She hesitates, cants her head to the side. "And if ye lot aren't as much of a bunch'a idiots as usual, ye might come out alive through this."
That said, she raises her hands. After a moment so does the man on the barge. For a moment, nothing seems to happen and then iridescent light shimmers over the coral, seeming to match that which surrounds the fortress. It crackles and dances like a fire, and then without warning bursts into a furious life, slamming against the energy of the fortress. There is the sound like thunder and light snaps and crackles, zipping with energy. Then with a woosh the light flies upward, taking the figure with it. The man on the barge lets out a cry like a seagull and dives into the water as if intending to swim after her.
For the boats that remain, a part of the fortress will crumble away into the sea, revealing a small harbor and an open doorway. Enter all ye who dare.
[If things become too crowded, feel free to make another thread outside of these. Just put where you are in the header.]
Haaaalllway zombies
So, when she sees angry shirtless guy ripping and tearing into stuff, she's pretty clearly going to help him. Or ogle, don't mind her. At least, up until a zombie rushes him from behind. Fireballs in hand, she shouts]
Get down!
[And she hopes he does, because there's a bolt of lava flying right at the undead thing.]
no subject
[He had dropped though, because that's one thing he had burned into his mind. If someone yells duck or get down, and they aren't there to arrest you, then you do it and slice the legs off anyone who tries to get in your way. Like the Zombie in front of him. Claws slipped through his legs, dropping him down as he felt fire behind him. He scrambled to the other side of the hall way, rolled over on his rear and glaring. One Zombie, rolling around legless, and one melted by fire.]
[His eyes looked down past to who ever called. Who the hell throws fire while someone is fighting god damn Zombies.] Thanks.
no subject
Sure. You okay?
[She looks rather pointedly at the claws because hell, that looks like it hurts, man.]
no subject
[Moving he shoved himself up to stand, flicking burning corpse off him and moving away from the one on fire. Welp, that was gross. Because they didn't smell bad enough as it was, now they had to roast them.]
So far? Couldn't be better. [he flicked his claws to the side, shedding muck to the ground. Nothing stuck to these babies.]
no subject
Good. These damn things just keep coming. Wasn't sure if you saw the one behind you.
[She gestures behind her, towards the exit hole she'd made.]
If you're wanting to get out, I've got a perimeter set up, it's pretty secure against these little shits.
no subject
[Glancing back behind her as if eh could see the hole from here, he snorted, looking back to her.] Been out. A few times now. Came back in to do some clean up. Find any stragglers. There were quite a few of us here.
If you think they just keep coming, you should have seen how many there were before.
no subject
Good. Then you don't mind running interference for me, do you?
[She's already starting towards the next junction, where there's definitely the sound of zombie feet shambling along.]
I'm Chandra, by the way.
no subject
Whatever lets me break a few skulls. [because as tired as he felt from this past week, he just wanted to do some destruction. This place shouldn't ever stand again.]
Logan.
no subject
[She trots along and gives him a cheeky look.]
Actually...here, I'll let you in on the fun. Give you a little range to work with too.
[She twists a dial on her heavy gauntlet and wiggles her finger at him, sending out a big of beneficial magic. His claws begin to crackle and spark, and a tiny electrical sheath covers them. He'll also feel more energized, the presence of her mana making him move faster and hopefully helping with some of the fatigue.]
no subject
[But magic? Bah. So he glared a moment at his claws. Woman, if you do some shit to break them, you will regret it. BUT... yeah, okay, that's kind of cool. And he FEELS better no less. A little burn mark on his chest from the exploding zombie started to heal up -faster- then a moment before. Her spell might not have intended to do any healing, but the simple fact that he felt more energized and felt like he was refreshed just helped his regeneration powers. Where the hell were you two weeks ago.]
[He was grinning now though, a devilish look.]
That's new. [and shiny. He ran both sets of claws to each other to throw off sparks, more so then normal.]
no subject
[She grins and starts off down the hallway, certain her statement is completely accurate. Sparks like hers are one in a trillion, after all, and she's damn sure she's the only Planeswalker on...whatever this plane is...]
Keep them off me and I'll keep feeding you power. Give them a swipe, and you'll get a bit of distance you didn't have before. Just as sharp, and a hundred percent more lightning.
no subject
What, exactly, did you do to them? [because these babies ran the entire bone frame, thanks. he did however, flick his hand a bit, turning to swipe the opposite way. There was a Zombie a bit away too no less. He didn’t actually think he’d touch it with a simple distance swipe, so... how surprised will he be?]
no subject
Enchantment. Little trick I learned on Zendikar called Lightning Claws. It'll fade in maybe twenty minutes or so, but till then go nuts.
