The black fortress ripples with shimmering iridescent energy, the piles of black coral heaped on roped together barges around it, bobbing in the waves. On the largest barge stands a slender man with a copper belt, wearing a face mask, orange red hair flecked with black from ash or dust. As the dawn slowly folds over the ocean, he'll look up, as if hearing some hidden voice.

At the top of the fortress, a figure climbs into vision, a woman, dressed in gray, features obscured by a hood with impenetrable darkness behind it. She staggers a moment as if she is weary, then straightens to her full height. As she speaks, her voice comes out of the journals, echoing over the water, low but clear.

"This is no small task ye do. She that rots within'll do anythin' ta stop ye. Don't hesitate to kill what ye find. If they were human once, they hain't no more. Watch out for her golems, too, or they'll drain ye dry quicker'n a wink. But if ye can get rid of 'em, it'll weaken her." She hesitates, cants her head to the side. "And if ye lot aren't as much of a bunch'a idiots as usual, ye might come out alive through this."

That said, she raises her hands. After a moment so does the man on the barge. For a moment, nothing seems to happen and then iridescent light shimmers over the coral, seeming to match that which surrounds the fortress. It crackles and dances like a fire, and then without warning bursts into a furious life, slamming against the energy of the fortress. There is the sound like thunder and light snaps and crackles, zipping with energy. Then with a woosh the light flies upward, taking the figure with it. The man on the barge lets out a cry like a seagull and dives into the water as if intending to swim after her.

For the boats that remain, a part of the fortress will crumble away into the sea, revealing a small harbor and an open doorway. Enter all ye who dare.

[If things become too crowded, feel free to make another thread outside of these. Just put where you are in the header.]

If you think you have an easy way of making that happen, that'll actually be great.

[And she meant that. Ideally, yes, fighting should not have been the first option. But as the current situation stood, Asami didn't think that was much possible. The damage was already done. They raided the fortress in a ruckus and now everyone was on a good old fashion witch hunt. Getting most of the people around here to change their minds was futile really, they were too angry to even think straight. Well that and Asami was pretty sure she couldn't make it out of this room without being eaten alive, unless she fought back.

Her eyebrow raised when the swords emerged from Archer's knuckles. She wanted to ask if it was painful but decided against it, it would have been a silly thing to ask. Instead she nodded to him
]

Don't worry I don't need a lot, a sword and a pistol should be enough.

[From a logical view, bringing more would have probably slowed her down. There was always hand-to-hand combat too]

[As Archer loosened his knuckles, Asami would likely see they weren't a part of him--rather, the handles of the blades were so small that they might as well have been toys. Still, the keys served their importance.

Unfortunately, Archer wasn't trained as a Burial Agent. He couldn't fully utilize the seals rather than borrow some of their innate abilities. He flung the three keys from his hands into the doorway, each one digging into the stone walls easily. Dim lights emanated from each blade and in the next few moments, they flared up and burned the incoming undead. Though, as more of them came, the blades began to get weaker.]

I can slow them a great deal, but those are tough things to make. You'll need to start running now, if I'm going to cover you.

[Archer opened his hands once more and on his palms surfaced more of the little cross-like handles of the Black Keys.]

And, if they bite you even once, miss--it's game over.

[That certainly was a handy ability to have, she thought. An eyebrow raised higher as the knives exploded and killed off the remaining undead that entered. Of course that wasn't the end of it though, far from it, there was already an incoming of more.

She finally pushed herself off away from the wall and gave a side glance to Archer
]

Right, I got it. But what about you? Are you just going to stay in here afterwards?

[Asami was aware the man was capable of fighting alone, even more so than her obviously. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask]

Thanks. I owe you for this.

I have no use for this place. If anything-- [He threw the next set of 'keys' into the hall and even more zombies were compacted to flaming dust as a result. That method was getting weaker and weaker with each use, as the zombies were simply drawn closer to their location.

Another method was necessary. Archer gave Asami one more glance before he shut his eyes.]

You're going to follow me outside. I need to clear this fortress of those things, anyway.

[Then, Archer walked into the hallway, unarmed. Under his breath, he muttered without moving his lips-- 'I am the bone of my sword.']

[And that's exactly what Asami did. Taking the pistol out, she stowed away the sword under her belt as she followed Archer into the hall. Shooting would have been easier at this point, even if she wasn't really great at it yet, and the gun had loaded bullets already.

She aimed and fired away at a small group of undead that were coming around the corner, grazing one of the zombies in the shoulder. That was a bad first aim. The second time she shot it was a more direct hit, then she turned her head in Archer's direction
]

You wouldn't happen to know the way to the cells, would you?

I can't see a reason why you would want to go there at the moment. They're actually empty.

[Though, he hadn't checked in the last hour. Archer had no reason to go there twice, so he left it all at that.

Turning on his heel, Archer moved aside as one zombie fell away, stumbling after Asami's first few shots. He raised his right hand up and projected the sword 'Durandal', a holy blade. He gripped it and swung it down, not only cleaving one undead from shoulder to hip, but it burned and turned to dust from the light radiating from the blade's steel.]

You'll be better off heading to the surface with the ships.
