The black fortress ripples with shimmering iridescent energy, the piles of black coral heaped on roped together barges around it, bobbing in the waves. On the largest barge stands a slender man with a copper belt, wearing a face mask, orange red hair flecked with black from ash or dust. As the dawn slowly folds over the ocean, he'll look up, as if hearing some hidden voice.
At the top of the fortress, a figure climbs into vision, a woman, dressed in gray, features obscured by a hood with impenetrable darkness behind it. She staggers a moment as if she is weary, then straightens to her full height. As she speaks, her voice comes out of the journals, echoing over the water, low but clear.
"This is no small task ye do. She that rots within'll do anythin' ta stop ye. Don't hesitate to kill what ye find. If they were human once, they hain't no more. Watch out for her golems, too, or they'll drain ye dry quicker'n a wink. But if ye can get rid of 'em, it'll weaken her." She hesitates, cants her head to the side. "And if ye lot aren't as much of a bunch'a idiots as usual, ye might come out alive through this."
That said, she raises her hands. After a moment so does the man on the barge. For a moment, nothing seems to happen and then iridescent light shimmers over the coral, seeming to match that which surrounds the fortress. It crackles and dances like a fire, and then without warning bursts into a furious life, slamming against the energy of the fortress. There is the sound like thunder and light snaps and crackles, zipping with energy. Then with a woosh the light flies upward, taking the figure with it. The man on the barge lets out a cry like a seagull and dives into the water as if intending to swim after her.
For the boats that remain, a part of the fortress will crumble away into the sea, revealing a small harbor and an open doorway. Enter all ye who dare.
[If things become too crowded, feel free to make another thread outside of these. Just put where you are in the header.]

Oh, aye? How? You would have been here either way and I would have had your blood on my hands.
[and he would have been a traitor. To do something like that consciously, under his own willpower. He would have been no better than Marshall. Though now that they shared the same ability, how much better was he? So he says softer]
I did the only thing I could.
no subject
Would have been here either way. I’d of...[Felt Better. He had paused before saying it though. His hand having come up into the gut of a zombie, pausing there as it was the same move he did to Jean. The claws sucked in once again and he felt cold. then glared, throwing a punch with the other hand, claws sinking out into the zombies skull.]
No. You’re right. Would have been fuckin’ pointless and that guilt, no one should have’ta deal with.
[killing dead things would be a good enough distraction for now. Though he kept looking over at the taller one, once in a while, to make sure he was good. Not overwhelmed]
no subject
Not guilt. You were under the control of something else, Logan. There's no damn reason to feel guilty.
[he hacks another few zombies]
Nakama in their right mind don't kill nakama, whether they're crazy or not.
[Maybe that was it. Maybe Marshall had gone insane somehow. If Thatch had just given him the Devil Fruit to begin with then none of this would have happened...]
no subject
[At the worlds of no guilt, he knew the man had mistaken what he meant. No one should have to kill one of their own. The guilt that person feels for it after words is heart crushing.]
[He grumbled, talking softer.]
And yet it happens. Crazy or not. [he killed Jean, because he needed to, because she wanted him too, but he sometimes wasn’t so sure she wanted to anymore then not.] Hnng... Never mind. So... that’s it then. [a zombies head was cut in three] You’re like all the other overpowered people on the crew now?
no subject
I've been out of almost everyone's league. But with this...
[he slides his swords away]
Dark Snake...Gravity Crush
[He darts down the hall, a long black coil, pulling the zombies into him and crushing them before ejecting them out along the walls, their bones shattered as they crumple in a heap.
He reforms with a little difficulty and braces himself with one hand against the wall as a wave of dizziness comes over him]
Nothing can touch me.
no subject
[Wait, he blinked, watching this turn of events, surprised at first, annoyed for a moment later. Annoyed only because he just killed all the targets. Well, there will be more. But still. When he came back, steadying himself, Logan watched him carefully, studying him.]
Impressive. [he said as he reached out, as if to steady him, then drew back, frowning.] Just take it easy huh. Swords work well too.
no subject
Aye. They do. [he claps Logan's shoulder affectionately] Meet me back at the ship.
no subject
Yeah. Sure. Back at the ship. [and to try and not sound too dour, he added] Try to save me some things to kill, huh?
