Who: Everyone who is fighting in the battle to kill the witch.
Where: The Black Fortress in the East

What: The grand battle to get back what you have lost, get revenge for what was taken, and avert disaster.

The black fortress ripples with shimmering iridescent energy, the piles of black coral heaped on roped together barges around it, bobbing in the waves. On the largest barge stands a slender man with a copper belt, wearing a face mask, orange red hair flecked with black from ash or dust. As the dawn slowly folds over the ocean, he'll look up, as if hearing some hidden voice.
At the top of the fortress, a figure climbs into vision, a woman, dressed in gray, features obscured by a hood with impenetrable darkness behind it. She staggers a moment as if she is weary, then straightens to her full height. As she speaks, her voice comes out of the journals, echoing over the water, low but clear.
"This is no small task ye do. She that rots within'll do anythin' ta stop ye. Don't hesitate to kill what ye find. If they were human once, they hain't no more. Watch out for her golems, too, or they'll drain ye dry quicker'n a wink. But if ye can get rid of 'em, it'll weaken her." She hesitates, cants her head to the side. "And if ye lot aren't as much of a bunch'a idiots as usual, ye might come out alive through this."
That said, she raises her hands. After a moment so does the man on the barge. For a moment, nothing seems to happen and then iridescent light shimmers over the coral, seeming to match that which surrounds the fortress. It crackles and dances like a fire, and then without warning bursts into a furious life, slamming against the energy of the fortress. There is the sound like thunder and light snaps and crackles, zipping with energy. Then with a woosh the light flies upward, taking the figure with it. The man on the barge lets out a cry like a seagull and dives into the water as if intending to swim after her.
For the boats that remain, a part of the fortress will crumble away into the sea, revealing a small harbor and an open doorway. Enter all ye who dare.

[Ai needs to see the Ai crab she drew, anyway.
She takes out one of her smaller pairs of scissors and starts tapping it against the wall as they go, just for some extra noise.]

[Seriously! People don't know what they're talking about. Even Nitori said they were friends, a while ago - and then he poisoned Rin.
If they were friends - and they're not! - that cancels it out. Friends don't poison each other.]
NITORI! IF YOU DON'T LET US KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, YOU CAN DAMN WELL ROT AWAY IN HERE!

He lifts his head from where he lies curled up - still trapped, not even trying to make his own escape - and considers if he should call out or not.
No, right? No, he doesn't deserve to be rescued at all. No, he should let them leave him to-
But they won't. Rin can say it all he wants, but Aiichiro knows better. Just like he knows better about whether or not they're 'friends'.]

[It comes out too quiet, the first time, and he has to clear his throat and try again.]

[Hajime tosses the scissors down a branching hall, then chases after them.]
Come on, Rin! Last one there's a rotten egg!
[She skids to a stop in front of Aiichiro's cell and cranes her neck to try to see him in the darkness. He missed out on her big entrance, so it's the first chance he's gotten to see her in her transformed state. Considering the eerie green glow of the eyes on her faceplate, it's probably a good thing that she's too loud to be mistaken for anyone else.]

At the cell, Rin will make eye contact with Nitori if he spots him, but he won't say anything. Instead, he only cuts off his glare to talk to Hajime.]
Can't your suit get that thing open?
[If it's just a weird piece of tech, it's not that impressive. Clearly.]

[When he comes forward, he's crawling. It's not because he can't stand, though he is a little weak from having been imprisoned. He hasn't exactly been taking care of himself or anything these last few days.
He could certainly get up and walk around though, if he weren't so meek an nervous about seeing his crewmates again. He swallows hard, speaks a little louder.]
I'm not hiding.
[He even looks up to make eye contact, though he winces as soon as he does.]

[Hajime taps at the bars. Shouldn't be a problem!]
Let's see...everybody stand back!
[She pulls the blades for Blanc et Noir out of her leg holsters and puts the gigantic pair of scissors together.]
Snip snip snip!
[She slashes at the bars, cutting clean through them, then gives them an extra little tap to send them scattering all over the hall and Aiichiro's cell.]
Et voila! Rescue complete!

Where Nitori is still sitting on his knees.
Rin is still angry, really, but he feels more deflated than anything; there'll be time for rage later. For now, he holds out a hand to Nitori, though his glare doesn't waver.]
Come on. We didn't come here to picnic.

[Aiichiro takes the hand, but his eyes turn down again even as he does so. He can't face that glare, not right now. He'll face it later - he knows he has to - but right now he needs all those things he doesn't feel he deserves: safety and rest and comfort.
So he turns his eyes down and lets himself be helped up, then speaks again, softly.]
Thank you for coming for me. Both of you.

[Wow, thank you, Rin. To be fair, he at least knows Nitori's body - and bodies in general - better than most, and there was nothing terribly wrong that he could see. But it's also part petty vindictiveness, thinking Nitori can damn well suffer as
Rinthey had.]You should be glad we're still alive to come for you at all.
[And Rin is just going to start walking - though he does hold on to Nitori long enough to make sure the guy can walk okay.]

That Hajime is kind to him anyway only says something about herself, not anything about the situation, and he knows it.]

[He bows his head, then gently tries to pull his arm away from Hajime as well, so he can walk on his own. He should do that much at least.]

Everybody was worried about you, Ai. We came here to rescue you as quickly as we could and it looked like everyone else had the same idea! There are loooots of people here now trying to save their friends, so you better stick with us so you don't get lost. The zombies are scared of the shard, so no one's gonna bother you as long as you stay close to me, okay?
[They're on orders to get back to the ship as quickly as they can after Hajime's little show at the docks. The captain and Mitsuhide still don't want people to know that their crew has a shard and people have certainly started to get nosy about it. Well, Ban has started to get nosy about it, but Ban counts as people.]

[With little more than that, Rin leads the way, just barely; if Hajime insists on clinging to Nitori, they can both fall behind, see what Rin cares. He'd rather get eaten by zombies than hang around those two, anyway.
Nitori acting this way, being ashamed, is exactly what Rin wanted, and yet somehow it doesn't satisfy - which, of course, only makes Rin more annoyed. Why is he still not getting what he wants?]

[He barely manages to absorb everything that's being said, but he does get that Hajime told him to stay close to her, and Rin said to hurry.
That's enough for Aiichiro, right now. So he takes quick steps to keep up with them, not really looking at either of them.]

[It's aimed at her, because she's the one who wants to talk. Not because he can't think of anything he wants to say to Rin right now. Of course not.]
